WRP Ensemble Company

To implement the vision and mission, WRP has formed an Ensemble Company and is working to offer a fixed season that patrons may plan their schedules around.

The Winding River Players Ensemble Company is the "theatre-piece" of our organization and consists of dedicated amateur and semi-professional theatre volunteers from our area.

The Company draws its members from all over Northeastern Pennsylvania and the adjoining counties of New York. We are united by a love of good Theatre and are dedicated to bringing the best productions possible to our audience.

Membership within the Company is based on participation in any capacity in a Winding River Players' production. There are no dues or fees for membership. Our members come from all walks of life; from housewives to teachers; from factory workers to lawyers, and include people with a wide spectrum of theatre experience.

Everyone in our group works very hard to bring our patrons quality entertainment on a shoestring budget. Because we are all-volunteer and understand the family obligations of our members, we make every effort to be accommodating in our rehearsal schedules. Nevertheless, quality theatre is our goal, and we fully expect those who have committed to a production to adhere to the highest professional standards possible.

So how do I become a member and why should I want to?

To answer the last question first: if you truly love live theatre or if you're looking for something different and challenging ... if you are willing to commit to the time and work required for a quality production on a volunteer basis ... we want you!  Actors, sure! But it take a lot more than actors to put on a top-notch production!  We need many different people and skills to handle the many technical and non-technical jobs. We need people who can make posters, sell tickets, answer phones, sew, paint scenery, hammer a nail and haul a flat. And the challenge of teaching and learning new things is half the fun!

Since membership is based on continued participation, we try to select and staff our shows from Company members. Occasionally, we will hold open auditions if a part can't be filled by available members, or to obtain additional technical help. But you don't have to wait for auditions to become a Company member. Just contact us by e-mail or phone and tell us a little about yourself and we'll be in touch. By the way, if you're under 18, you're encouraged to join, but we will need custodial consent!

WRP's Ensemble Company is an evolving organization. We're always looking for new members and delight with the return of current members. We hope you will find time to join us in our next production. Contact us today!
