WRP Recognized by IRS

April 9, 2004 — Winding River Players, Inc., is pleased to announce that it has received a letter from the Internal Revenue Service recognizing the Organization as exempt from federal taxes under section 501(a) of the Internal Revenue Code and as an organization described in section 501(c)(3). The letter further states that Winding River Players, Inc. can reasonably expect to be considered a publicly supported organization described in sections 509(a)(1) and section 170(b) (1) (A) (vi).

Federal tax exemption is the culmination of a lot of effort by members of our Board and we are deeply grateful for all their hard work and dedication in this step towards the realization of the organization's long-term goals.

Donors may deduct contributions to Winding River Players as provided in section 170 of the Internal Revenue Code. Bequests, legacies, devices, transfers or gifts to Winding River Players, Inc. or for our use are deductible for Federal estate and gift tax purposes if they meet the applicable provisions of sections 2055, 2106 and 252.

PA Sales Tax Exemption

January 30, 2006 — Winding River Players, Inc. has received a letter from the Pa. Internal Revenue Department notifying us that our application for PA Sales and Use Tax Exemption has been approved. This will result in considerable saving for us in purchasing items for use in the pursuit of our organizational goals. Much thanks is extended to those Board members who worked to obtain this exemption!

 

Winding River Players is YOUR Community Theatre.

Community Theatre does not live in a vacuum. No matter what the members of Winding River Players want to do to fulfill our mission, we cannot realize our goals without the full support of you, our public.

For over twenty-five years, we have brought quality productions to you and your family on a shoe-string budget. We have been self-supporting through our box-office receipts and our all-volunteer workers, your friends and neighbors, have worked wonders to keep your ticket costs down. But while ticket costs have risen only slightly over the years, the cost for every production has , like everything else, gone up and up.

In order to continue to bring the benefits of Community Theatre to the people of our area and to realize our Vision and Mission, it is no longer enoough to attend our shows. And while we need your help.

The Second Twenty-Five Years

As the Winding River Players enters its second 25 years, we want to thank our loyal supporters who have contributed to our continued success for the first 25 years. We have many goals and projects under development in addition to bringing you quality, entertaining theater. To realize these goals, we need additional assistance from you, our loyal audience.

One of the projects which we currently support is the summer theater workshop for youth which is free and open to all young people. Students learn the art of making theater from the initial audition to performing, and all the accompanying technical necessities such as costumes, props, set, etc.

Our annual award to a graduating Bradford County senior is very competitive. It is awarded in recognition of the student’s contribution to the high school theater activities and can be for performing and/or technical work. This year we increased the amount of the award to $1,000.

Other goals include sponsoring a local one-act play competition, bringing educational and training workshops to the community, and maintain our own performance space.

We are looking for tax deductible contributions to help with the continued growth of our group.
